Out, Damn Spot!

I had a lot of stuff to write tonight.

While I was heading into the library earlier today, I touched something wet on the underside of the door handle with my left ring and middle fingers. In spite of many hand washings, I can still feel it there.

Now that's all I can think about.

I'm like Lady Macbeth.

Except now I might have Hepatitis.

  2. We think so much alike. For sanity's sake, let's assume it was sudsy, disinfectant soap left there by the germ fairy?

    1. There's a germ fairy? Nice. Phew. Good! So many fewer things to worry about now :)

    2. I think that's a very good assumption, Marianne. It will help me sleep better.

  3. I love the fact that out of that experience the thing you think about is Shakespeare, made me smile.

    1. It was either Shakespeare or hobo pee like my husband insisted it was.

  4. Interesting how something can stick with you for so long, be so powerful in your mind as to kick out all the other thoughts that were rummaging around in there.

Maybe Lady Macbeth had Hepatitis too? Who knows.

Me thinks your spot will stick with us too for a bit, now.

    1. You know, I was thinking the same thing about Lady Macbeth. Perhaps that would explain a lot.
It's a sore trial sometimes being completely demented.

    1. Welcome! Thanks for stopping by!
No, I don't think I would survive very long at medical school. Thank you for the reassurance about the Hepatitis, though!

  6. LMAO! I totally get where you are coming from on this! Tara can confirm this statement too! In fact, one of my Mom's favorite stories from my youth was when we went to the Zoo and I wanted to feed the giraffes. I held out a hand full of straw and the giraffe stuck out his or her long tongue, took the straw and slathered my hand in the process.

My Mom says I looked horrified and despite numerous trips to the bathroom to wash my hands, I walked around for several hours with my hand held slightly away from my body, so as to avoid accidentally getting anything on my clothes. When we ate, I refused to use my right hand and Mom had to help me.

I haven't changed much since then...thanks for a good laugh!

    1. What a funny story! I can almost - almost - deal with animal slobber better than I can with human slobber.
Regardless, I keep hand sanitizer with me at all times.

  7. For some reason, this reminds me of the time when Son-One was four or five and I glanced over and saw him running his (open!) mouth back and forth along the grocery cart handle. Traumatic, I'll tell ya. Wishing you a speedy recovery. :)

    1. OH! That's vile. My sister, at about the same age, decided it would be a good idea to run her tongue up and down the conveyor belt at the grocery store. What gives?!
