I have a Robert Louis Stevenson quote that hangs on our tree every year:
"The world is so full of a number of things we should all be as happy as kings."
My brain is so full of a number of things this evening, and I am, indeed, happy as a king. Happier, probably. I want some time to enjoy the number of things in my brain: turning them over and feeling their weight and their lightness and savoring their flavors. I will write about them and more later. For now, an earworm.
This song has been milling about in my brain for the last few days. Can you really beat Julie Andrews' pipes? I think not. I don't even like musicals. Well, there's one way to beat Julie Andrews' pipes in my book. And only one. That is the widespread sudden joy of a flash mob. I know they're such old news now, but they always make me tear up with the absurd joy of it all. Anyway, let's start at the very beginning... shall we?
Hope your new year is off and running in the way it should be. If not, that's OK. Tomorrow is a new day. Always.

SO COOL! I really like these flash mob things. The problem is you have to go where they might be in order to be part of them. And I am glad your head is full of enjoyable things - how sweet to start the year off that way. and I like that idea that tomorrow is another day. Always. And, even more, tomorrow is MONDAY but I don't have to go to work. yahoo!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this! I SO want to take part in one of these!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved this!! I'm with Word Nerd...I want to take part in one of these Flash Mob's too! :)
ReplyDeleteThat was really neat. My children when they were small watched the Sound of Music VHS tape over and over until it broke. NOW they say they don't even remember it.
ReplyDelete:( What's a flash-mob? However, your reference to RLS sure triggered my brain, and sent me back to "Kidnapped" one of my all-time favorites as a kid. "Treasure Island" is what people normally think about, bot RLS had a lot more going for him. Thanks for the memory.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm a huge fan of musicals (raised on 'em like other kids had Bugs Bunny) and Do Re Mi is one of the songs my Mom sang to us when we were kids. The beginning is such a great way to start the New Year! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think I will never get to participate in a flash-mob, but it's so cool to watch them:) Glad your head is full of happy things- what better way to start your year?
ReplyDeleteLoved it!
ReplyDeleteI love how people get together and perform something so many different people can enjoy, bring happiness, smiles and excitement to so many at once. It's beautiful! I want to be part of a flash mob too!!
Great way to start the year, may it be just a foretaste of all the good things coming your way in 2012. (:
I love that tomorrow is always a new day and there is always hope for good :(
ReplyDeleteI meant :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to see a flash mob to that song! They make me teary, too, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteI love this video (and flash mobs) so much! This is the kind of meme I'll never tire of.
