  1. My mother bought a pair of skinny jeans. That pretty much sealed their fate with me.

  2. Listen, I'm totally rooting for you, but if my experience with the stories in David Foster Wallace's Oblivion is any indication, you might be better off just tapping out before any more damage is done. ;)

(I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE his nonfiction, but those stories totally kicked my butt. It's been a while, but I do think there were a couple in there that I "got" before they got me.)

  3. @Kelly - That ain't right. Also not right? A friend sent me a pair for my birthday and they are oddly comfortable, I just feel like an imposter in them.
@Masked Mom - I think I am falling into the same camp. I love and adore his non-fiction more than is even appropriate. The fiction is a whole other ball game. I just keep thinking of it as a test of my intellectual fortitude. Am I just not smart enough? Or are they really just kinda tedious?

  4. Also still quite skeptical of Twitter. Just got a private message to "check out my cocker spaniel". I'm a little afraid.

  6. @Jewels - Poor child. Wasn't that the guy from "Pretty in Pink"?

  7. No, that was Blaine. His name is Blaine? That's not a name, that's a major appliance!!

And I wouldn't check out anyone's cocker spaniel on Twitter. Eep!

  8. Ah, Blaine. I dated a Blaine. He went by Chip.
I'm not much of a dog person, so yeah, no on the cocker spaniel.

  9. My initially skeptical but now permanent fixtures list would include... yes, I hate to say it, but it is totally true... skinny jeans (gasp) and smart phones. I am right with you on Twilight though. I'm living it out here. This is a great list of lists. Please don't tip over!

  10. @Nicole - I have to admit the skinny jeans are growing on me a little bit. I think they should be used judiciously and in moderation. As for the smart phones, I know I would be an instant addict, so instead I choose to stand aloof and scoff. Ha ha. Never Twilght, though. Never.
