Some Light Housekeeping: Have Book, Will Travel

All right, my lovers. Remember when I said I was working on a project and some of you wrote wonderful things about your first loves and some others of you said you wanted to and I haven't heard from you yet? Well, I'm planning to do a whole link up deal on Monday (or let's call it Tuesday, shall we?) of next week, so you still have time if you wanna.

I have so very much enjoyed reading the posts people have sent me so far. I love a good love story. I love a sad love story. I love a gross love story too, sometimes. I am working on a project that is combining all of these things. Do you know anyone who has a love story to tell? One that you love to hear? Do you think they would like to be interviewed? Would you like to be interviewed? Let me know.

Check out the author's website here.
Speaking of love stories... Jane in Her Infinite Wisdom has been so kind as to share some love in the form of a book with me. Remember that, folks? Creative is a Verb.

[This is a small digression: as this book has been lying about the house, jBird has been fascinated by it. She is also quite concerned that I am reading fallacious material when she's not supervising me. "Mom. Creative is not a verb." She knows this because she is studying it in second grade. So, either her teacher has misinformed her, or I have. Hmm. I have had to explain the notion behind the title and she grooves it; she really does. But this flexibility of rules is unsettling to her straightforward little soul.]

Anyway, the book came to Jane from Melanie at Is This The Middle, and Jane decided to turn it into a travelling bit of love. I have been the custodian of this fine book for far too long now and it's time for it to have a new home, to provide someone else some new inspiration. It's colorful and beautiful and chock-full of encouragement and gentle kicks in the pants.

Here's how we play: You leave me a comment here if you want a stab at the book. I will roll the dice and see who wins (this will be a totally random kind of thing like having a monkey draw a number out of a hat or something.) I'll let you know who the big winner is and send this book on its merry way. If you are the winner, you are under no obligation whatsoever to FedEx me chips and queso or new jeans. You only have to agree to send it on to another person when you are done. Sound like fun? Of course it does.

Also, if you should notice a distinct change in tone and feel around here this weekend, it's because I will be featuring a guest post by the lovely Tonya Vrba, who contacted me and said she'd like to guest post for me. Hers is an article about her view of the changing nature of relationships and what that does to traditional values. I thought that sort of  fit with the whole love thing we have going on here and goodness knows, I get tired of the sound of my own voice.

There are some things blooming with the spring, folks, and they are causing more than seasonal allergies. Drop your comments below, tell me about your day. Do you want to win a book? If you've already won one, you can comment anyway and tell me not to include you in the fun and games. Be well and adore your lives, folks.

  1. Oh, Lou. I do not want to win the book, though I could use the pants kicking, because I am in the midst of a giant whiny baby pity party. Can I blame it on spring?

  2. Oh oh oh! I wouldn't mind being part of the Traveling Book chain. (:

By the way, this summer, I have a project of going to to the local nursing homes (Abbotsford is where the baby boom generation has settled) and get a few good love stories. They're such fun and a pity to be never be told. .. I can't wait to hear 'bout your project.

  3. I'm game. Although my eighth grade Grammar Policeman would have something to say about the title as well.

I am excited about your love project. I can't wait to see what it is when fully cooked.

    1. I really can't wait to see it, either. I'm not sure what it's turning into, but it's taking on a mind of its own. From what I understand, that's supposed to happen, but it's a little frightening.

  4. I have wanted to write about my first love and am hoping to have time. Perhaps I can squeeze in a 1/2 hr this weekend. I'll do my best! Also, I would love to receive the book:) I've been coveting it since this started-lol. The good news is that I know lots of people who read all these blogs, so I have lots of chances!

    1. If you don't get a chance this weekend, I can always link you up later.
Maybe this is your lucky day!

Count me in on the drawing, I'd love to read this.

  6. Spring is starting to actually take hold on this side of the pond, although winter keeps throwing in the odd heavy frost still! I have really enjoyed my walks in our local park this week. The bluebells are out providing a beautiful blue and green carpet to the woodland area, plus it has been great seeing the birds feeding their babies :-)

Love is in the air for us this weekend as my sister-in-law gets married tomorrow. My girls are bridesmaids and I am looking forward to sharing the day with my other half. Weddings always make us soppy and this one will be a special one! I can't wait to see what you have cooking for Tuesday ;-)

PS I would love the book, but being over here I think it best to stay out of the game for now. If it ever completes the rounds in the US send it over to continue it's journey :-)

    1. Spring sounds lovely across the pond.
I will include you in the random drawing, if you'd like.

  7. Damn! I wish I had a love story worth telling. The loves that happened long ago were never worth writing about in the end. I am trying to think out of the box here and even that is not working for me. The man to whom I have been married for 349 months (today) is a good guy but I really don't see a scintillating love story there. More a companionship and commitment. I want a love story.
I WANT passion. Not there anywhere in my life. Well, wait. I was once in love with a classroom of kids - and new kids - for ten years. It was a K - 2 classroom in a public school. I really did love those kids and they stayed with me for three years and 7 would leave the class in June and we would add 7 more in August and I would come to love the new seven. Now those kids have gone to high school and to college and I still remember them. Is that a love story?

    1. That is a love story.
It is interesting to me that you equate love with passion. So many people do. Some of my favorite love stories are not scintillating, but show the slow burn of commitment and dedication.
Every love story is worth telling. Even the ones that hindsight renders less "real" by further experience.

    2. Yes, I do equate love with passion - and passion has been too absent in my life. Or maybe my standards for passion are too high?

  8. I have written my love story, but keep noodling on others. My first romantic love is on my Facebook, and while the relationship cooled to platonic 15+ years ago, that might be awkward, for him and his wife, as well as a tad uncomfie for my incredible Hubs. So, I'll likely keep that story to myself.

As for entering to be the next stop on the book tour, yes please! I am home from Europe (with a cat on my lap) and would love a bit of "luxury" reading.

  9. Already have/had the book--and passed it along to the fantastically creative Graciewilde. Still tinkering with the love story essay-post hybrid that is running ridiculously long and is, I fear, ridiculously ridiculous. No convenient labels exist for this love I am writing about--it hangs awkwardly over the edges of whatever box I've ever tried to shove it in. I have my doubts, if not about its merit as "love," then about its worthiness for so much attention, but despite the enormous amount of time I've spent on it over the years, it's always where my mind/heart goes when the subject of love (especially lost love) comes up. This probably speaks as much to my sheltered existence as to anything else. (I am constitutionally unable to babble about it--ACK!) Regardless, I will probably (finally) have a link for you this afternoon or evening.
