I loved this post even more the second time around. We agree on being surprised about the weather, and I will vaguely say my experiences at our senior center are hauntingly familiar. It's the anger that shakes inside of me, until my head is buzzing and my heart pounds, and the best way to clear it all is huff and puff, pounding the pavement. Since I'm so out of shape right now, it ends up feeling much like high-heeled lunges. I'm not even sure what I want to say. I did not know your diagnosis. I have my own diagnosis, but cannot relate to mania. My first feeling upon hearing the news about Mr. Williams was... jealousy? Ugly, but there it is. I have two things that keep me from taking drastic action in the moments that I want to: 1. I firmly believe that trying to end the pain only causes more for myself, and 2. I know that so much that is painful in my life would fall on my children. So over and over I choose patience. Over and over I choose to be the shield that keeps some of the dysfunction from falling on them. Sometimes I can be more hopeful than at other times. Sometimes I beg for hope.

I take comfort also from Jesus' sorrowful mother, and from Mother Teresa, who also turned her pain into help for others.

SarahAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2923792986438866285.post-3594275126934041232014-09-11T14:54:15.671-07:002014-09-11T14:54:15.671-07:00My Grandma's Famous Lemon Squares, recipe foll...My Grandma's Famous Lemon Squares, recipe followed to perfection by my daughter. I'm working through it, hoping to find the grace that I know is deep inside to at least not be a jerk about my anger. There is justification in my anger, there is no justification in my jerkiness. Reasons, sure, but not justification. Jerkiness is ... well, it's not very nice. I'm not super nice, but I just don't want to be a jerk.
